Healthy Snacks for Mom and Kids!

When I was pregnant, I always said, “I will not feed my kids bad food!! They will eat what I eat!” Ha! Funny!!! I have gotten to the point where I am just so desperate to get Beckham to eat, that I’ve resorted to junk food like Nutrigrain Bars or Goldfish! I hate it, but he is so picky! He usually eats a healthy breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs and fruit, and then for lunch he has a PB&J with fruit, and then for dinner it’s usually mac n cheese and a little bit of whatever Jared and I are eating. He will eat what I’m eating if he’s sitting in my lap, but if I put my food on his tray, he wants nothing to do with it! What a booger. So high maintenece!

Anyway, I say all that to say that I have found at least ONE healthy snack (besides fruit) that Beckham loves!! Woo hoo!!! They are these Chicken & Maple jerky sticks by The New Primal. Beckham truly loves these!! It makes me feel so good to know that he’s getting in some protein, and that he’s snacking on completely CLEAN food!!
Such a ham!!Β  And guess what!? They also make meat sticks for adults, too, and they are sooooo good! They tastes like a slim jim but a million times better, and without all of the grease!! These are perfect to stick in your diaper bag or purse and take on the go with you. You could pair one of these jerky sticks with a Lara Bar and some almonds, and call it lunch! I am all about quick and easy lunches these days! They also make jerky, which never lasts long in our house. Anyone else fly through a bag of jerky in about 2 minutes?! Haha! It’s so good! There aren’t many jerkies out there that are made with clean ingredients, but The New Primal’s is!! I love the classic and spicy flavors! Yum!!

Some other healthy snacks that I will eat during the day are all fruits, but mainly apples and bananas. I also will eat a Lara Bar from time to time. I try not to snack too much. It’s hard when I am home all day because I get bored, and I can become tempted to find a snack for excitement! I am practicing listening to my body and only eating when I actually feel hungry. The key is having healthy snacks on hand that will actually satisfy and hold you over. These jerky snacks are perfect because they are packed with protein!
