Cleaning the house…It’s no easy task. Well, I guess cleaning the house isn’t that tough, but keeping it clean is a real mission! Luckily, I actually enjoy most cleaning tasks. However, there are a few chores that I really don’t enjoy, such as cleaning the bath/shower, mopping the floors, and wiping down baseboards! Yuck!! With the exception of these tasks, I typically find cleaning to be enjoyable and therapeutic. And what really makes me happy is the finished product. A clean house makes me happier than most things. I always tell Jared, “I don’t need you to buy me something or take me out, what I really want is a clean house!” Is that weird?! I just love it soo much.
But keeping the house clean is basically a 24/7 task. I mean, my appliances look like this within 5 minutes of cleaning them! Anyway, there are a few things that help me enjoy cleaning, and I wanted to share them with you! I am going to be telling you about a new company I recently discovered called Grove Collaborative, and if you are interested in signing up, you can click here to do so! They are a company that sells all natural household products at a great price, and they ship them right to your door! It will help me out if you sign up through my link! And you should totally sign up, because if you sign up now, you will get a four-piece Mrs. Meyer’s gift set for free when you spend $20!! It’s kind of a no brainer!! Anyway, here are my tips!
- Use cleaning products that you love and that smell amazing! This is my number one tip!! I am always excited to clean my countertops when I am using a yummy smelling product because it leaves my house smelling so fresh. And the same goes for doing dishes. I love doing the dishes with warm water and yummy smelling dish soap because it leaves my hands soft and smelling great!
And how cute is this Grove Collaborative tray!!? I love it! I love my Mrs. Meyer’s products from Grove Collaborative. I ordered most of my products in the Lavender scent, but also got a few in Lemon Verbana. Yummmm!I also love my bubble up dish set I got..It’s brilliant! There is a little bowl that you squirt some dish soap in, and the scrub brush sits inside of it so it is always ready to go when you need to wash something by hand!
- Okay, next tip: Light a candle! Candles make everything more peaceful and relaxing, so I always light one when I am cleaning the house, even if I’m just picking up toys and vacuuming! It makes me happy to look over and see my candle burning, and of course it smells amazing!
- Put on some music! You guys have heard me talk about this before, but I just love music, and I pretty much have it on all day! I definitely put music on when I’m cleaning though because it lifts my mood and makes me happy! Lately I’ve been playing Christmas music and it makes me feel so good!! I keep this little Bose speaker in my kitchen and I use it alllll the time!
- Have a grateful heart. Whenever I have a bad attitude towards cleaning or taking care of the house, I have to remind myself how lucky I am so have this house. We are so incredibly blessed. I am able to stay home and raise my babies and be a homemaker. I am literally living my dream. I am so blessed that I have a home to take care of and messy kiddos to clean up after!!
So those are a few tips that might help make cleaning more enjoyable for you! If you want to sign up to get all natural cleaning products shipped right to your door, head on over to Grove Collaborative and sign up!! You won’t regret it! You will absolutely love the free four-piece gift set!
I know some of you other mama’s are thinking, “But when do you find time to clean???” Well, good question. Life is nutso right now. Like, crazier than ever before! Free time is sparse. Beckham and Scotti aren’t napping at the same times right now, so I don’t really have any baby-free time until the kids are both asleep for the night. So, I include the kids in the cleaning process. I always fold laundry while the kids are awake because I can just let Beckham run around my room and play while I do it. I typically will wear Scotti in the Solly Wrap or put her in her bouncy seat while I do this. I clean the kitchen throughout the day because I can’t stand to see it messy. It’s pretty quick. I also vacuum at least once a day, and Beckham loves it. When I say, “Do you want to help me vacuum??”, he runs to the closet where I keep the vacuum and starts yelling with excitement! Same thing with doing the dishes. I always ask Beckham, “Do you want to help me unload the dishwasher??”, and he runs and opens it for me. (Yes, he knows how to press down the latch and open it!!” Beckham loves to hand me dishes and I put them away. I typically pick up all the toys and do one last wipe down of the kitchen once the kids are in bed for the night. I clean bathrooms and do more difficult chores when the babies are asleep!I literally take advantage of any free moment to get things done!! Even when Beckham is bathing in the sink, I’ll do a quick clean up session in the kitchen, or sometimes even cook dinner!! I always say, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way!”
I hope you have enjoyed this post and that maybe it will help you get motivated to clean your home just in time for the holidays!
