Life with 2 under 2 is crazy, but it’s not any crazier than I expected! I knew what we were getting ourselves into when we decided to have kids that were 12 months apart! Haha! The days are long and crazy with a capital C, but I love it! (Most of the time! Haha!) Even though most days our house looks like a 3-ring circus, we have so much fun, and we are making tons of incredible memories. I love being a mom so much, and I am literally obsessed with my babies. Literally. I am dying for nap time to come, or for bed time to arrive, but why?? All I do is sit and stare at pictures or videos of them when they’re asleep! Motherhood is so crazy! But it’s certainly not all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a mental game. It’s a never-ending desperate cry to Jesus for strength, grace, and patience. Some days are just so hard and lonely. I had a few of those days last week. We were all under the weather, lots of grumpiness going on, and I looked at Jared and said, “Some days I just feel so trapped. This is my life for the foreseeable future….” #dramatic. But I have moments where that’s what runs through my mind. Motherhood requires you to give and give and give, until you feel that there’s nothing left. I don’t think you can quite comprehend what it’s truly like until you are in it and it’s your every day life. It’s so good. So amazing. Such an immense blessing. But it can be so hard. So draining. And it can cause you to doubt yourself in so many ways.
I don’t want to ramble too much, and I don’t want this post to turn negative. That’s not the goal! But sometimes I am encouraged to hear that other women out there think motherhood is freaking hard, too. You don’t hear that often! But I mean, look at these two cuties…Of course they are 100,000% worth all of the hard work and sacrifice!
Anyway, I know many of you enjoy when I share these day in the life posts, so I thought it was time for an updated one! Let’s jump on in!
6am-ish/7am-ish – The babies wake up! Some days Jared and I are already up, and some days they wake us up! This morning Scotti woke up at 7 on the dot, and Beckham woke at 7:10! I slept until 7, and it was amazing!! Some days they wake earlier. Two days each week I wake up at 5am and teach online for VIPKID and Jared takes care of the babes. I also unload the dish washer every morning at this time, and get Jared’s lunch packed for the day!
7:00 Breakfast! Scotti drinks a bottle and we usually eat a frittata or scrambled eggs! Oh, and always always coffee!!!! 8:00-9:00 Play Time! I am usually trying to make the bed, put on some makeup, brush my teeth, etc, while the babies play!
9:00 Scotti naps and Beckham has rest time! He lays in his crib and talks. This lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on his mood! Scotti usually naps until 10:30 or 11.
10:30/11:00 Scotti drinks a bottle and Beckham has a snack!
11:00-12 or 1 Play time and/or errands! We always have fun! A lot of the time we will head to the store, go to the library, play with friends, or visit Jared during this time. But a lot of the time we stay home, too! It just depends on the week! Laughing at Beckham! 12:00 Beckham & I eat lunch and Scotti takes a nap! Sometimes she will only nap around 12:30 or 1…It all depends on when she wakes up from her morning nap! I have learned to be a lot more flexible with her schedule because her naps are always different! Beckham loves one on one time with me when she is napping!1:00 Beckham naps! I may get a few minutes to myself depending on how long Scotti naps! Beckham is usually awake by 2:30! I love taking pictures of these babies! It brings me so much joy!! 2:30 – Everyone is awake! We may run out and do something, or we will just hang at home and play/take care of chores! I love to have a task to accomplish because it helps me from becoming super bored, and I feel like the kids like to stay busy with me! Beckham would love it if we just cleaned the house together all day…Seriously!! Haha. His wife is going to thank me!
The rest of the day always looks different. Scotti will take one more nap and drink one more bottle before her bed time bottle. Beckham and I usually try to start dinner at 5:00 if we need to cook that night. We eat dinner around 5:45!
6:30 – Bath time!
6:45 – Scotti drinks an 8 oz bottle.
7:00 – Kiddos are in bed!
7:00-10:00 Jared and I get time to ourselves! We workout from 7-8 MWF, and on the other nights, we have no agenda! We are usually just vegging and resting our brains from the long day! And once a week we watch a show together: THIS IS US!! It’s the only show we watch and we love it!
Phew! The days are crazy and exhausting, but so sweet at the same time!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into our world! I hope you enjoyed experiencing a little piece of our crazy lives!
