Hey ladies! Many of you have asked about my curly hair routine, and I am so happy to finally be sharing it with you!! A lot of people ask if my hair is natural, and my answer is always, “The curl…yes…the color…no!” Haha! I have always loved having curly hair, but I’ve bounced around from one product to another trying to find the best of the best in order to get the best curl.
My hair has really had a hard time with my back to back pregnancies, and sooo much has fallen out. It’s very sad!! I am doing my best to repair it and get it back to the way it used to be, though! Sometimes I will blow dry my roots to give my hair some more volume, mainly when my roots have grown out, but I tend to stay away from the blow dryer in order to protect my hair!
Okay, so I have found some products that have really helped my hair that I love love love! My hairdresser mentioned DevaCurl to me a couple months ago, and she said I had to try it out! I was so curious, so I decided to buy a sampler pack. Guys. I fell in love. I was so excited about these products that I reached out to DevaCurl to see if they would wanted to do a collaboration, and they said yes! I truly truly love these products and recommend them to anyone with curly hair!
So let me tell you how I style my curly hair. First, I hop in the shower and wash my hair. I wash my hair once a week, so it is usually pretty knotty, especially underneath. So, I alternate between these two products to help repair my hair and soften all of the tangles.
I will use the melt into moisture mask when my hair is feeling really dry and brittle. This stuff smells amazing! I will wash my hair, then apply this all over, really focusing on the ends. If I have a few minutes, I will apply it, pop on a shower cap, then shave my legs etc. etc. and let it sit for about 15 minutes. I get the best results when I do that. It makes me hair so soft! When I don’t have as much time, I will leave it on for about 3 minutes and rinse. This replaces my conditioner! I love this mask.
When my curls are feeling a bit life-less and flat, or if I have been using heat on my hair and need to restore my hair, I will use the deep sea repair. I will apply this the same way as the melt into moisture mask, making sure I have massaged it into each section of hair. My curls always look so goof after I’ve used this. Okay, for shampoo and conditioner, I use the no-poo original and the one condition original. These are my two favorite products from DevaCurl. I think that using these to wash and condition my hair has made the biggest difference when it comes to styling my hair! The shampoo is very different from any other shampoo I’ve used before. It doesn’t get sudsy (is that a word?). You have to massage it into your scalp and work it through your hair. This helps reduce frizz when styling your hair! Okay, so this is what my hair look like when I get out of the shower. It is best to apply your styling products when your hair is soaking wet!! I brush through my hair while it still has conditioner in it in the shower so that I can get the tangles out more easily. I do one more brush through when I get out, before applying products. The first product I use is the styling cream. I apply this through out my hair, focusing mainly on the ends. I don’t put much product near my roots so that it doesn’t get oily. This cream keeps your curls nice and soft and also reduces frizz. Then I apply some super cream. Guys. This is the best smelling hair product ever. It smells like straight up coconuts!
And last, I apply a tiny bit of gel to help hold the curl. I apply just a little bit because my hair tangles easily, as mentioned before! But this really gives the curls some nice definition.
I make sure I have product all over! And then, I scrunch scrunch scrunch! I use the DevaCurl towel to scrunch it, and it’s amazing. It absorbs all of the water in my hair, and keeps my hair from getting frizzy. I highly recommend it! I scrunch until it isn’t very wet anymore, usually for about 3 minutes, maybe?! I am usually listening to a podcast while I do all of this. This towel..Amazing! I make sure to massage the towel into my scalp to dry up all of the water so that it has some nice volume! Once it is about this dry, I just let it air dry. I will carry the towel around with me while I finish getting ready and scrunch every couple of minutes to help give my hair some volume, but I’m pretty much done at this point!
I went and got dressed and had Jared snap a few pictures once it was almost done drying. It isn’t completely dry here, but I wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like once it is almost dry.
Scotti wanted to be a part of the pictures, too! And that’s it! I love love love these products and I am so happy I discovered them! If you have curly hair, then you know how important it is to find great products, otherwise your hair will be one big messy ball of fluff!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you found this post helpful!
